Academic Issues

If anything happens to a student that has bearing on their academic performance, the College Tutor will, most probably, be informed.

This person is expected to be in a position both to assist the student and to get to the bottom of the predicament. Alternatively, he or she should be in a position to refer the student to the appropriate person who would be able to help. A pamphlet detailing such people is available each year entitled "Who to Contact" and can be found at www.lancs.ac.uk/studentsupport/download/leaflets/

The academic performance of every student is continually reviewed throughout the first year by their departments.
If a student has performed badly by not attending seminars or practicals, or has failed to submit coursework, the department involved may issue a letter stating that the student will be placed in Bad Academic Standing. A plan for recovery will be set up.
The Senior Tutor will be sent a copy of the letter and you will be informed that your tutee is having academic problems.
You may wish to see the tutee to have a chat and see if you can help or offer advice, otherwise it may be useful to keep the information on file for later.
